5 Reasons Why Fall is the Best Season for Running

Nothing beats the cool temperatures, crisp air, colorful hues, crunchy leaves, seasonal treats and festive vibe that the fall season offers.  No wonder it’s America’s favorite season ever.

But fall isn’t all about changing leaves, bonfires, hayrides, caramel apples and pumpkin everything; it’s actually the best time for fitness too, especially running.  If you’ve been wanting to start a new fitness routine but don’t know how or when to begin, now is the perfect time to start running.

Here’s why your favorite season is also the best time of the year for running and fitness in general:

1. The weather is perfect.

Depending on where you live, the temperature during the autumn months is usually around 40 to 60 degrees, which is the optimal temperature for running.  Cool but not too cold, just right.  This means that you won’t be drenched in sweat after only a few minutes of running.  The perfect weather will allow you to run longer and stronger.

2. You have a holiday motivation.

Take advantage of the holiday season to motivate yourself to shed off some pounds before the festivities begin.  Gotta make room for the back to back holiday food fests!

3. You will have a stunning view.

Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded with beautiful golden yellow, red and orange hues?  Let it be an inspiration to go out and enjoy the outdoors.  Soak in the beauty of the changing leaves and vibrant scenery as you tick off your miles.

4. You’re back to your routine.

Between summer trips and back-to-school, the past months might have been too busy for you to sneak in a run or two.  Now that the fall season is in full swing, you’ll have more time to stick to a running schedule.

5. You can start training for marathons.

Fall is the best time to find a goal race and a popular time to train for a marathon.  Signing up for a marathon is a great motivation to get out and go for a run instead of just lounging all day in PJs being lazy.  It’s also the perfect opportunity to gather your friends and train with them.  That will surely make running more fun and enjoyable.
