10 Kitchen Essentials for Healthy Cooking


Cooking your own meals is the key to eating clean consistently and achieving a healthier and fitter body.  To help you prep healthy meals, you obviously need the right tools and healthy staple ingredients.

Don’t worry; you don’t have to spend thousands.  With just a few smart purchases, your healthy and awesome meals are guaranteed!

1. A good set of knives.

There’s nothing more annoying than dealing with dull knives.  Owning a good set of knives is essential in cooking.  But you don’t have to buy all the different types of knives available in the market.  You only need these three knives:  a Chef’s Knife, Paring Knife and a Long, Serrated Bread Knife.  It’s better to invest on high-quality ones rather than spending much on multiple average quality knives that you won’t even be using.

2. Cutting boards for different food groups.

Of course you need a cutting board in your kitchen and it’s recommended to have separate ones for different food groups to prevent food-borne illnesses from spreading.  Have a different one for meat and another one for fruits and vegetables.  Although plastic cutting boards are easier to clean, experts recommend Wooden Cutting Boards because weathered plastic boards hold on to bacteria more.

3. Non-Stick Pan

Using non-stick pans will decrease the amount of fat and oil you use for cooking and therefore, help you cut calories.

4. Measuring Cups and Spoons

To help you follow healthy recipes, you’ll need cups and spoons to measure the ingredients precisely.  If you want to go digital, there are also digital spoons and cups available in the market.

5. Convection Oven

Your cooking method is as healthy as your ingredients; and a convection oven will help you dish up those healthy meals.

6. Probe Thermometer

To make sure that your meats are cooked to perfection, you’ll need a probe thermometer to do that.  Digital Probe thermometers feature a timer and an alert to notify you when the desired temperature is reached.  No more guessing games!
