5 Fitness Tips for Fall Season

Whether you’re slacking on exercise or just looking for ways to change up your usual work-out routine, think of September as the New Year – a time when you set new fitness goals, try out a new exercise regime and promise yourself to a healthy and fit lifestyle.

Starting and committing to a fit lifestyle doesn’t have to be  a New Year’s Resolution.  Why not begin now to ensure that you’ll be in great shape before the holiday season rolls around?

Here are some helpful tips to get fit this Fall:

1. Find a new workout.

The new season is the perfect time to try something new.  Since the weather will start to cool down, you might want to consider enrolling in certain indoor classes like boxing, spin class, dance or try new fitness trends such as Pound or Anti-Gravity Yoga.

2. Take advantage of the cool weather.

Depending on where you live, Fall is also the perfect time to take advantage of the outdoors – crisp air, beautiful foliage and the crunchy leaves underfoot.  Discover parks trails and enjoy the sceneries as you burn calories whether it’s walking, running, biking, hiking, etc.

3. Buy new gear.

I don’t know about you, but new workout clothes inspire me to… exercise.  Since the temperature’s changing, you also 4. to choose a gear that is cool-weather-appropriate.  Find work-out clothes that will keep the heat inside your body, to motivate you to exercise even when the weather gets even colder.

Make a new playlist.

Find new songs and compile them in a new Fall Exercise Playlist to get you pumped up as you work out.  I’m sure you’re already tired of those songs you’ve been listening to over and over again the whole summer.

5. Sneak in some exercise during your screen time.

New season means Fall premieres, and when the weather cools down, it’s the perfect time to get cozy in your bed and watch your favorite shows.  Too cozy and comfy that you wouldn’t want to work out anymore.  I hear you.  But why not just take advantage of this time and be an active “TV watcher?”  Do quick workouts during commercials, walk or run in place while watching… you can even do tricep dips off the couch and lift weights.

A change in season shouldn’t stop you from achieving your fitness goals.  There are tons of ways to be active throughout the year, no matter what season it is.  It’s all a matter of creativity and a dedication to maintain an active lifestyle.
