There are two kinds of human beings in this world:  A. those who wake up in the morning without difficulty and B. those who consider that the hardest part of the day.  If you belong to the second group, don’t worry.  You’re not alone.  Hey, who would want to leave the comforts of their bed?  Not me.

But aside from the struggle of waking up in the morning, I think what’s more difficult is keeping the energy up throughout the day. As we all know, food fuels our body that’s why a healthy breakfast is a very important step to stay energized and focused all day long. And not just any type of breakfast. You have to be smart on what you eat – not those quick fixes like candy bars, soda or energy drinks.

To help you kick-start your day, here are 8 foods that won’t just give you an energy boost but will also keep your weight in check.

1. Eggs

Eggs are the best source for a steady and sustained energy as it does not cause a spike in blood sugar and insulin.  It’s packed with protiein and a number of nutrients like thiamin, riboflavin, folate, B12 and B6 which are all essential for energy production.
