Flawless, smooth, radiant, glowing – these are all the attributes we want our skin to possess.  Although some of you may be born with it already, some of us here *waves* need to put extra effort in our skincare routine and invest in products, in order to achieve a beautiful looking skin.  But not all expensive skincare products can guarantee you a radiant, glowing and flawless skin.  At the end of the day, it still comes down to what you eat because healthy skin starts on the inside.

You don’t need to spend a fortune to achieve your goal of having beautiful and healthy skin.

Drink enough water.

Cliché?  I know.  But this is the key to having a healthy skin.  What happens to your skin if you don’t drink enough water?  It gets dry and dull because it’s not properly moisturized from within.  Breakouts can also occur from dehydration because your skin isn’t able to flush out the toxins that build up in your body.  Also, you’ll notice your under eye circles getting darker, and wrinkles getting more visible.

Change your diet.

Have a moment and reflect on what’s your diet like.  Does it consist mostly of processed foods, junk and sweets?  Well, that’s the reason why your skin is having problems.  Instead of applying expensive products on your skin, feed your skin cells with foods rich in antioxidants and good fats.

Antioxidants help protect your skin from cellular damage caused by free radicals.  Loading up on antioxidants will guarantee a healthy, radiant and glowing skin!  Ditch the processed food and eat dark green leafy vegetables, sweet potatoes, blackberries, cranberries and pecans.  Cinnamon, Turmeric, Basil, Parsley and Oregano are good sources of antioxidants too.

Good fats, on the other hand, keep your skin cells strong and help maintain proper hormone function.  You can find your essential fats in olive oil, nuts, flaxseed, legumes, salmon, tuna and sardines.

Exfoliate your skin regularly.

This is a very important step in your skincare regimen if you want a radiant looking skin.  Exfoliation sloughs off dead skin that blocks off your pores, speeding up the skin renewal process and taking your skin from dull to smooth and vibrant.

For this step, you don’t need to buy expensive products or spend fortune on certain treatments.  You can exfoliate your skin with items that are already in your fridge and pantry – oatmeal, brown sugar or baking soda.
