Today, it seems like everyone is always too busy, polluting our bodies and minds with unhealthy toxins. Toxins for me aren’t just poisonous substances that cause negative effects to our health but can also come in the form of “unhealthy thoughts” that clutter our minds and make us stressed and depressed. That’s why a seasonal detox is what we need from time to time.
But what really is detox? Simply put, detoxification is the physiological or medicinal removal of toxic substances to improve our overall mental and physical health.
In this article, I will discuss 5 ways to detoxify your body & mind naturally.
1. Start with Water.
Water is the most valuable tool for detoxifying and purifying your body. Drinking water is the simplest yet most effective way to flush unwanted toxins out of your body. But this isn’t just simply drinking water – it should be at least 1.5L of filtered water. Remember, WATER and not coffee, sports drinks, sodas or juices. If the taste of water is boring for you, try adding slices of lemon or cucumber to your water.
2. Detox diet.
Of course, if you want to detoxify, you need to watch out your food intake. There’s a wide variety of detox diet plans to choose from; Organic, Vegan, Juicing, Raw and Alkaline are just a few. Just find a diet plan that suits you best. But according to an article from Global Healing Center, foods such as garlic, lemon, broccoli, mung beans and raw vegetable facilitate detoxification in the body.
3. Purify the air that you breathe.
In today’s modern times, it’s highly impossible to run away from polluted air. Travel & Leisure has a list of the top 10 World’s Cleanest Air and places such as Tasmania, Hawaii and Iceland made it to the cut. But of course, we can’t just leave home and move to a different country! Probably your next vacation destination?
While you can’t control the whole environment and completely run away from these toxins, you can at least purify your air at home with the help of a high-quality air purification device.
4. Practice mediation every day.
Meditation is the ultimate mental detox as it gives your mind mini-breaks. It helps you clear your mind, relax and reduce stress. In case you are not aware, having a troubled mind has negative effects to your overall health.
5. Declutter your surroundings.
As I’ve mentioned above, a troubled mind affects your mental, physical and emotional health. And you know how a cluttered environment contributes to this? Spend a weekend decluttering your home and/or office. Get rid of all the things that you don’t need and use. By doing this, not only will you be able to clear your home from clutter and dirt but your mind as well.
