The weight loss industry has all sorts of quick fixes – from pills to skinny teas, invasive to non-surgical procedures, and a lot more. But in today’s article, we will talk about one medical breakthrough that claims to “freeze your fat” and reduce the treated area to about 20-25%. These frozen fat cells will then be naturally eliminated so they won’t migrate to other areas of your body.
Cryolipolysis or popularly known as “CoolSculpting” is a procedure that destroys subcutaneous fat tissues through exposure to cooling. This FDA-approved procedure is dubbed as the non-invasive alternative to Liposuction.
So how does the procedure go?
Like any other procedure, you always have to go through a consultation and discussion with a medical professional beforehand to determine the treatment plan that is best for you. There is NO NEEDLES and NO SURGERY involved in this procedure therefore there is also no downtime; you can return to your normal routine after your treatment.
A gel pad and applicator will be applied to your desired area wherein a controlled cooling is delivered to the targeted fat. Of course, you will feel a little chilly but don’t worry, the cold will subside within 5-10 minutes. The procedure also involves a “vacuum” to draw fatty tissue so expect that you will feel a mild pulling, tugging or pinching.
The treatment usually runs for about an hour or more for multiple areas. Note that you may experience temporary redness, numbness or stinging in the treated area/s for up to a few hours which are all normal.
Sounds interesting right? But yeah, this medical breakthrough doesn’t come cheap. Depending on where you live, one session may cost $500 or more.
Any alternatives for this procedure?
Lucky for you, this procedure can be done at home. Although not as drastic as the professional one, DIY Fat-freezing can give you results too.
I came across a site where the author tested out the “DIY CoolSculpting” and has seen results. All you need are ICE CUBES in a PLASTIC BAG and apply to your target area for 1-3 hours a day. If you want to know about the author’s experience, click HERE to read his blog post.
Keep in mind that “CoolSculpting” is not to LOSE WEIGHT but to actually reduce the fats in a specific area and for it to be toned and contoured. In my opinion, this is best for unwanted belly fat, muffin top, and flabby arms.
