Have you been on a weight loss journey for so long but still hasn’t succeeded? You feel like you’ve been doing much on your quest to lose weight but you are always doomed to fail. I understand how frustrating that can be.
Don’t feel hopeless though, it’s never too late to get back on track. Below is a list of 5 weight loss mistakes that you probably are doing and what you can do about it.
1. You have unrealistic expectations.
Think about it, you are probably “failing” due to your unrealistic expectations which eventually pull you down and de-motivate you. You should know that losing weight is a gradual process and shedding off pounds doesn’t happen overnight. Just keep going.
2. You believe in quick fixes such as celebrity diet plans, fad diets, skinny teas or diet pills.
There are no shortcuts when it comes to weight loss. Don’t be too naïve and follow the diet programs that celebrities promote. Do you really think that the waist trainers and detox teas that the Kardashians promote are the reasons behind their unrealistic body structures? I don’t think so.
Stop following these diet “secrets” and stick to eating healthy and staying active on a daily basis. Simple lifestyle changes like avoiding processed foods or sneaking in at least 30 minutes of exercise can help you with your journey.
3. You are a Yo-Yo dieter.
One week you are killing your workout and healthy choices, the next week you’ve been stuck on your couch watching Netflix and eating junk food all day. Great – you’ve just wasted your previous efforts. Yo-Yo diet is a vicious one, being stuck in this cycle will sabotage your way to accomplishing your goals. It’s better to just relax and adapt to a healthy lifestyle. You don’t need to go hard on yourself on your workouts and dieting because chances are, you’ll just end up going off track.
4. You starve yourself from time to time.
Because of your desire to lose weight dramatically, you sometimes skip meals or ignore your hunger, thinking that this will help you shed pounds instantly. Well, you are wrong about this one. By putting yourself on starvation mode, your metabolism slows down and you store more fat, as a result, you gain weight, feel lethargic and lose the energy to even do a single workout.
5. You don’t watch what you are “drinking”.
If you think that dieting is just about the solid foods that you put in your mouth, then you are mistaken. Beverages are packed with sugar and calories too which play a big part in contributing to your weight gain. Stay away from calorie-laden beverages like sodas, alcohol, smoothies, Frappuccino, sweetened juices, etc.
Losing weight is not an easy process and it requires hard work, dedication and perseverance. I hope that this article will motivate you to give weight loss journey another shot and *fingers crossed*, you’ll be able to achieve your goals this time.
