This is a very popular sleeping aid. I, myself, take this occasionally and it works fine. Melatonin is actually a hormone that is produced by our brain’s pineal gland at night, letting us know that it’s time to sleep. However, exposure to light suppresses it. These Melatonin supplements are made synthetically to help reduce the time it takes to fall asleep.
This is an amino acid that is present in green tea which triggers the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. GABA is responsible in activating calming neurotransmitters and promotes deeper sleep at night. However, green tea doesn’t really contain enough L-Theanine to provide solution to your sleep problems. That’s why L-Theanine supplements are recommended.
3. Lavender Oil
Research shows that lavender scent can ease anxiety and promote deep slumber. You can sprinkle a few drops of this essential oil to a piece of tissue or cloth and tuck it under your pillow for a good sleep or use a diffuser in your room at bedtime.
Chamomile is a popular herb from the Daisy family which has been used for centuries for its medicinal purposes. Aside from aiding digestion, treating skin rashes and more, it is also said to help reduce anxiety, boost the mood and combat insomnia. Drinking Chamomile tea, using Chamomile essential oil or taking Chamomile supplements are great ways to induce and promote good sleep at bedtime.
