Find out how many calories you need

Before you begin your weight loss program, you need to find out how many calories you require in a day. You can use an online calories calculator to find out your daily calorie requirement.

Add 5 servings of fruits and vegetables to your daily diet

You need to add at least 5 servings of fruits and veggies to your diet every day. Since fruits and vegetables are rich source of fibers, vitamins and antioxidants, they fill your stomach fast so that you won’t feel hungry for a long time. As they are low in calories they can be used in place of higher calorie foods. They also boost your energy. Also include greens like spinach to your dinner. This helps you with portion control.

Watch the way you eat

Watch for portion size. Eating 5 or 6 meals a day may not be good for everyone. For example, if you are consuming 1 or 2 meals a day and plan to lose weight, suddenly switching over to 5 or 6 meals a day is likely to cause you put on more weight because of the high intake of food unless the portion size is small. Hence if you are planning to have 5 or 6 meals a day, make sure the portion size of each meal is reduced.


You do not need to exercise everyday but at least you can take a walk for thirty minutes every day. Avoid sitting on the couch and watching TV as soon as you return from work. To make your weight loss program successful, you need to plan your workout program perfectly which should include at least 5 sessions of 40 minutes each per week.

Add fun to your weight loss program

One of the main reasons people quit their weight loss program is that they fail to incorporate fun with their program. Make a change in your routine workout. Try some fun ways such as skipping, boxing, playing outdoor sports or swimming. This way you can have fun with your workouts and feel more involved in it.

Don’t skip meals

The common mistake people make in order to lose weight is trying to starve themselves. If you do this your body will be losing the essential nutrients. Instead, you can divide your meals into small portions and eat them frequently.  By doing this, you maintain a healthy balanced diet as well a healthy weight loss.
