There are many different ways to diet. As you know some of them work, while others do not. Although there are many methods that can lead to losing weight, dropping calories is what your ultimate goal is. So what are some ways to lose calories you may be wondering? Well there’s the gym where you can work out and burn them off, or you can diet. Personally I’m a firm believer in doing both at the same time. Your body will feel great from the workouts, and will love you even more for eating healthy. Obviously there are a lot of different foods out there which can help you shed calories, or are incredibly healthy. I’d be lying if I said otherwise. The problem with a lot of these foods is that you have to change how you eat in many cases. For example, if you’re a steak and potatoes type individual, you will probably not transition well into eating fish and salads at almost every meal. Thus this can create a fairly common problem which leads people who intend on dieting to give up their quest prematurely. Fortunately this may no longer have to be the case. I have found an amazing product that helped me diet, and was one of the major factors which led to me losing thirty pounds last year. What product is this you might ask? Well there called shirataki noodles. These noodles are also known in the states by the name miracle noodles. This is because “miracle noodles” is one of the more popular brands of this product. These noodles are great for dieters as I’ll describe below, and have numerous health benefits.
Health Benefits of Shirataki Noodles
To begin the number one reason that shirataki noodles are perfect for dieters in that they contain ZERO CALORIES. When a product contains zero calories and it fills you up, your intake in calories will drop and you will be able to drop weight. I don’t really think this needs to be explained in much greater detail than this. Zero calorie pasta?! You’re probably thinking right now, this probably tastes terrible, or haha I don’t believe you. Well that’s just not true. These noodles have no taste of their own, and absorb the flavor of whatever sauce you use with them. This has a lot of practical applications. I use these noodles predominately as a pasta substitute. My Mother is Italian, and part of the reason I became overweight in the first place was that I eat her pasta every Sunday. Let’s face it, she is a tremendous cook, and I over eat every time. Even while I’m at school, I have carried on her tradition of cooking pasta all the time and have been making her recipes to the best of my abilities. Just by switching from regular spaghetti to shirataki noodles, I have saved thousands of calories. I can keep eating meatballs every Sunday, and not feel nearly as guilty as I did when I ate regular pasta. To be honest, there isn’t really a serious drop off in the taste of the food. The noodles absorb the delicious flavors of the sauce, and actually taste quite good. You will be amazed if you ever try them.
One other health benefit of shirataki noodles is the amount of glucomann in them. This fiber is found to lower cholesterol in many patients. There are several studies that have found this in not only children, but adults as well! Glucomann is also used as a thickener in a lot of different foods. The reason for using it as a thickener is that it tricks the body into thinking you have eaten more than you really have. Well that’s just fantastic when your dieting, since it can help to control the amount of food you intake.
Shirataki Noodles are Great with Any Meal
Whenever I want pasta or rice with my meal, I use shirataki noodles. After having them as a substitute the first time, I realized that I was clearly onto something and kept eating more. They are extremely easy to cook and it only takes five minutes to make. Seriously, all you have to do with these noodles is put them into a pot of boiling water for 2 minutes after rinsing them off. You can even microwave them if you don’t feel like putting them in a pot. My personal low fat favorite way to eat shirataki noodles is when I just grill some chicken cutlets and throw whatever sauce I feel like eating that day over both the chicken and noodles. You’d be surprised how refreshing this tastes even though it’s so very simple.
After several weeks of eating these noodles, I started compiling different recipes for them on my site. I really love these noodles, and felt the need to share them with the world.
